Description
Linkin Park’s debut studio album, Hybrid Theory, was released on October 24, 2000, by Warner Bros. Records. The album’s lyrical themes deal with troubles lead vocalist Chester Bennington faced during his adolescence, including drug misuse and his parents’ continual arguing and divorce, which was recorded at NRG Recordings in North Hollywood, California, and produced by Don Gilmore. Hybrid Theory is a combination of the band’s previous name and the concept of music theory and blending different styles. This is also the only record on which Dave Farrell, the bassist, did not appear. Hybrid Theory featured four singles: “One Step Closer,” “In the End,” “Crawling,” and “Papercut,” all of which helped to propel Linkin Park to mainstream success. While “In the End” was the most popular of the four, the album’s singles have all gone on to become some of the band’s most popular songs.
