Description
The Velvet Underground’s fourth studio album, Loaded, was released in November 1970 by Atlantic Records’ subsidiary label Cotillion. Despite the fact that it spawned a number of singles, the album failed to chart. [2]
It was Lou Reed’s final album as a founding member and primary songwriter, as he left shortly before its release. Sterling Morrison and Maureen Tucker, two other original members, left in 1971. [3] [4] As a result, it is frequently referred to as the “final” Velvet Underground record by enthusiasts. [5]
It has received favourable reviews in the past; on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 best albums of all time, Loaded was listed number 110 in 2012 and later placed number 242 in 2020.
